I expect I just missed it from the comments above, but ] is a must. But on a budget, simular loops can be made with a haste enabler and myr and a sac outlet. So basically, mine is a budget less pet deck, so I run all the expensive rocks like ] and ], both of which are disgusting with the above mentioned trawler and ]. I play with Grenzo at six, but might try to bring that down, especially if my playgroup ever catches up with the rest of the world and quits using partial Paris. The only real mana sinks I run other than Grenzo is Chainer, Dementia Master. Most of the time you just want to be dumping extra mana into Grenzo. When you're building, be wary of putting creatures that are also manasinks into your deck like Olivia Voldaren and Feldon of the Third Path, etc. Hidden gems are Soldevi Adnate, Maralen of the Mornsong, Godo, Bandit Warlord/Sword of Feast and Famine, Kozilek's Translator, Pawn of Ulamog Staples are Tel-Jilad Stylus, Epitaph Golem, Anger, Heartstone, etc Wincons are Kiki Conscripts or Redcap + Mimic + sac outlet, or Redcap + Ashnod's Altar + Epitaph Golem It's a bit out of date since it doesn't have metallic mimic, I think I cut Dire Fleet Daredevil and Ravenous Chupacabra for Mimic and Grim Haruspex. It usually combos off around turn 5-7 while goldfishing, and is fairly resilient to most things (apart from Grenzo dying early to removal/wipes/fleshbag marauder-type cards) It's meant to set grenzo at 3 power and go to work. Also, I already have ] to cope with tribal, so I'd prefer not to build goblin tribal. With that in mind, I'd prefer to not spend more than maybe $10 on a single card. My meta tends to be pretty casual, with the highest power deck that I've seen being either the ] precon give or take some cards or a ] which is more optimised for BG goodstuff than for what the internet's told me is the typical Meren deck. So, my question is what people tend to run for Grenzo, and how people tend to win with him. However, I recently realised something - I have no idea how to play him, other than low power creatures and plenty of scry. So, I managed to trade for a Grenzo a short while back, because he seems pretty cool - I love both red and cheating things into play, and Grenzo offers a unique opportunity for both of those to be realised. Don't really want to get any overly expensive cards, and I'm not too fond of tribal, either. Graveyard to bottom of library is a good trick.TLDR: Managed to get a Grenzo, Dungeon Warden, but not much clue as to what goes into Grenzo decks to make them go. ] - can recur your ETB effects, save your creatures, do neat tricks with the likes of ] I wanted to like Thran Turbine, but I figured things are going to die, so I replaced it with ]. I'm not sure if it's good, but I like it. That video, which didn't even show the card performing in a game, double the price. I'm not saying that Cyclonic Rift isn't a strong, flexible, great card, but Josh plays it up to another level.Īnother card I think is their fault that I'm a bit salty about personally is ] which is now a $15 card and before their "Underrated Favorites" video it was only a $7 card. People take great offense when you use the card to bounce a single key permanent early game like you've made the wrong play inherently. Unless you think that you can steer yourself into a win off of the rift bounce you should probably hold the card. Cyclonic Rift is a perfect example, sure its a strong card, yes it belongs in nearly every blue deck, but it doesn't solve all problems and in many cases merely drags out the game. Josh has some pretty strong opinions about cards and some of them I would disagree with, but because he views them as strong others don't understand them outside of the limited context he gives. It has an effect on what you see people playing too. I know they don't have the effect intentionally and that there is no way for them not to have an effect, I just wish it wasn't so strong. Worse is that a big part of it isn't even all people buying for their decks, its also people speculating that since the card was seen on that show with good performance that they should buy some and sell higher. On the one hand I want to see more cool cards in more people's decks, but on the other hand I'm really getting frustrated how much of an effect they have on the market.
